First Baptist Church of Ixonia
In a FBC/Ixonia meeting just a few weeks back, many shared loving and living memories of the church’s history. Alongside this sharing, thinking emerged about the future. Excitement was palpable and filled with expectant and hopeful faith about this future. Somewhere in that meeting, I mentioned we are not closing the book on the past, but we are writing a new chapter. Having given the whole thing some thought prior to the meeting, I believed that was a good enough thought.
Well, as I’ve prayed about it since that meeting, I’ve ever so slightly corrected myself. It is time for a sequel, not just a new chapter, to the first 100+ year history of the church. We’ve moved to a new location, with a “new” re-purposed building we now call our church home; why not a new story – Wander to Wonder – the Sequel!
So, with that said, suffice it to say, that sharing this ongoing story, totally related to the previous 100+ years of this church’s history, is not that bad of an idea! I really do believe, as I have all along that there are serious and worthwhile reasons to relate this story. Telling this will be my and our attempt over, let’s say, at least the next several months. So minus all the fluff of book signings, interviews and marketing parties, here goes!...
